Scholarship/ Bursary Program
SECONDARY / HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
Objective:
To support the education of high achievers who are planning to enter
university with two renewable, merit-based scholarships.
Eligibility:
Scholarships will be made to those students who, during their high school
program, have demonstrated academic ability, industry, and promise and who
have achieved high academic average results in any seven Level III courses
which he/ she undertakes. Financial need may also be taken into
consideration.
Additional requirements:
· Must be a Canadian citizen residing in
the IGA region;
· Must be in regular attendance at high
schools in the IGA region;
· Achieve superior results in previous
year's final exam and current mid-year exams;
Scholarship winner requirements:
· Must complete Level III examinations,
achieving grades consistent with previous attainment;
· Must be eligible for entrance to a
university;
· Must undertake a full course load
(normally a minimum of 5 courses per semester).
Amount:
Two awards of $6,000 annually. Scholarships are renewable in advance of
second, third and fourth academic years provided that scholarship standing
is maintained. The grade required must be equivalent to an overall average
of at least 70% per semester.
Application Process:
Applications must be completed by the student and returned to the principal
on, or before, February 15th.
Principals then send all required documentation to IGA prior to February
28th.
Scholarship winners will be notified on or before June 30th. Those selected
must meet Scholarship winner requirements (in Eligibility section above).

UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Objective:
To support the education of high achievers and/or those in financial need
who have completed one or more years of post-secondary education with one
renewable scholarship.
Eligibility:
The Scholarship will be made to a student who, during university or college
program has demonstrated academic ability, industry, and promise. Financial
need may also be taken into consideration.
Additional requirements:
· Must be a Canadian citizen residing in
the IGA region (having graduated from a high school within the region);
· Must have completed one or more years of
post-secondary education in a program leading to an undergraduate degree
from any recognized university, or a diploma from a minimum of a three-year
program from a recognized college;
· Achieve superior results in the current
fall and winter semesters;
· Student must NOT already possess a
post-secondary degree or diploma.
Scholarship winner requirements:
· Must undertake a full course load (a
minimum of 5 courses per semester).
Amount:
One award of $6,000 annually. Scholarship is renewable for an additional
two years (for a total of three years) providing that scholarship standing
is maintained. The grade required must be equivalent to an overall average
of at least 70% per semester.

BURSARIES
Objective:
To support the education of students in financial need who have been
accepted into or who are currently attending a post-secondary education
institution.
Eligibility:
Bursaries will be made to deserving students depending on financial need.
Additional requirements:
· Must be a Canadian citizen residing in
the IGA region (having graduated from a high school within the region);
· Student must NOT already possess a
post-secondary degree or diploma;
Bursary winner requirements:
· Must complete at least four courses per
semester.
Amount:
The IGA offers three bursaries types:
· Approximately 30 bursaries valued at $3,000
each, payable in two $1500 installments, one in each of September and January
of the academic year. The second
payment is contingent upon the student being registered for the second
semester, with proof of registration being provided to the IGA.
· Three bursaries for $6,000 each. Students
may apply annually.
· IGA Special Bursary - one bursary for a
student who has been out of full-time schooling for at least 5 years for $4,000.
This can only be awarded once per student.
